Rustic Pumpkins - Halloween Decorations
These pumpkin sets are made with rows of half-double crochet worked in the back loop only. The small one needs 16 stitches by 24 rows and the large one 24 stitches by 36 rows.
Each pumpkin starts as a rectangle and then is joined together and cinched around the top and bottom to make a ball which is then squished into a pumpkin shape (see diagram).
Before starting, leave a long tail of yarn of about 15 cm, to sew the pumpkin later.
Start by making the foundation chain with 16 stitches with a crochet hook number 5 mm.
Continue on rows following the pattern design from the bottom to the top and from right to left.
Row 1: 2 CH, 16 HTR. (16)
Row 2-24: 2 CH, 16 BLHTR. (16)
Continue like this until row 24.
Fold the piece in half with the right side out and join the side with 16 HTR. Fasten off, leaving a long tail of yarn for sewing.
Sew one side of the pumpkin with a single stitch all the way around and close the hole by pulling tight. Fasten off.
Stuff the pumpkin and sew the upper side in the same way as the bottom.
Sew the button to the base, but from the top, squishing to give it a pumpkin shape (see diagram).
Decorate with a twig and ribbons in Fall or Halloween colours.
Start by making the foundation chain with 24 stitches with a crochet hook of 5 mm.
Row 1: 2 CH, 24 HTR. (24)
Row 2-36: 2 CH, 24 BLHTR. (24)
Continue like this until row 36.
Fold the piece in half with the right side out and join the side with 24 HTR. Fasten off, leaving a long tail of yarn for sewing.
