Scarves are garments that will be seen from both sides, which is why it is important to use a reversible stitch. In this scarf, we will use the simplest stitch that exists to focus on the edges. Indeed, we are talking about the garter stitch, (knit every row).
To give it a bit of shape, the first 30 rows and the last 30 rows are worked in double ribbing (2×2).
But what transforms this simple knit scarf into something more sophisticated are its perfect edges, the I-cord edge!
I- Cord:
6 stitches are used in total, 3 stitches for each edge and all rows are the same, right and wrong sides.
All rows: knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise, knit 1, follow the pattern leaving the last 3 stitches, slip 1 stitch purlwise, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise.
Remember: bring the yarn to the back of the work when you knit and bring the yarn to the front when you slip the stitch purlwise.
