Become a pattern tester

Thank you for your interest in becoming a pattern tester for our new designs!

Why do I need a tester?

I have more ideas than time!

But also, when a pattern is digitized, it is done in many steps, and it is easy to make mistakes. Besides, I want to provide the best quality in each project.

Therefore, I need your help!

What is a pattern tester?

A pattern tester is a crocheter or knitter who is going to test if a pattern works.

The tester receives an unpublished or draft pattern to knit or crochet, and in return provides constructive feedback and valuable review.

What are the basic requirements?

The basic requirements for pattern testers are:

  • Follow the pattern exactly as written, without exception.
  • Take quality photos and/or videos of the project.
  • Have an open Instagram account for sharing progress and final results.
  • Complete the project within the specified deadline.
  • Provide brutally honest feedback about the pattern, including any issues encountered or suggestions for improvement.
  • Follow @PuntoArtDesign on Instagram for updates and communication.

What does this mean for you?

Pattern testing is a mutually beneficial process that not only helps me to write error-free patterns but also provides several advantages for you as a yarn enthusiast:

  • Skill Boost: Improve your crochet or knitting skills.
  • Learn Pattern Writing: Gain insights into writing clear instructions.
  • Try New Projects: Get early access to exciting projects.
  • Free Patterns: Receive high-quality PDF patterns for free.

Qualification and responsibilities

No experience is needed! All skill levels are welcome!

I’m seeking passionate knitters and crocheters who:

  • Pay attention to detail.
  • Commit to completing projects on time.
  • Can read patterns in UK terminology.
  • Provide constructive, detailed feedback, and identify potential errors.
  • Capture high-quality photos and share progress/finished pictures.
  • Are willing to purchase the necessary yarn/materials to complete the project.

I understand the time and yarn investment required for pattern testing, so I offer a compensation package, which include:

  • Ownership of the final project: It’s yours to keep! Feel free to sell it, gift it, or use it as you please.
  • A final copy of the pattern being tested.
  • Two printable resources of your choice.
  • Exposure on my website and social media platforms (if applicable).

How does it work?

  • First, complete the application form below to join the tester mailing list.
  • Then, I’ll email you all the details about the new pattern for testing. If you’re interested, follow the instructions in the email.
  • Next, I’ll send out the draft pattern. If you have any questions, we can communicate throughout the testing period.
  • Submit your feedback and accompanying photos before the deadline.
  • Afterwards, I’ll review all the feedback from testers and make any necessary adjustments to the pattern.
  • Once the pattern is ready for public release, you’ll receive a compensation package.
  • Finally, proudly share your completed project on social media, crediting @PuntoArtDesign  as the pattern source and showcasing your craftsmanship!
